More FALL SHAKESPEARE FAIRE

Save the Date and invite friends, relative and others

When:  3:00 p.m.  October 25, 2014  Saturday
Where:  Sis. Cummings in Sand Springs

As you know, our Commonwealth Faire is coming after fall break.  This is an opportunity to help your youth fulfill one of the requirements for 10 Steps for Success so they can reach the Reward Status and attend the field trip to Norman in the spring. 

We are suggesting that the students challenge themselves with this opportunity to showcase their best talents.   We expect them to be dressed in period clothing (contact Sis. Darcey if you need an outfit from the costume box--first come, first fulfilled,)  and encourage family and friends to join us in the jovialty.  (There will be a potluck after for participants--could bring food and join in more fun at 5 pm.)

A successful presentation would include three areas:

Information:  ex:  a powerpoint, a tri-fold board, a lecture, Know your topic.
Interactive:  Hands-on learning for their audience (samples, examples, paper crowns, etc.)
Visual:  Booth decor, bring your own table, chair, scenery, poster, costume, samples, etc. 

Sale Items:  The students may also sell handmade or craft items to fundraise for their schooling or training expenses.

SHAKESPEARE PARENTS

Your Shakespeare students have signed up for the following presentations for in-class participation--ideas on page 6- in their binder.  They can use the same idea, or a different presentation for the Shakespeare Faire on October 25th. 

Connor - #10 Occupations in Renaissance period - blacksmith 
Kate - #12  mysticism and animals -
J.J. - #21 food and dining customs - baker esp.  What DID THEY have to EAT?  
Miranda - #19 witches, fairies, and things that go bump in the night - making and selling fairy wands.
Connie - #13 off with his head!
Lydia - #5  the life of Queen Elizabeth
Natalie - NOT CHOSEN

Aidan - Student Mentor -- Minstrel, pipe and stringed instruments, selling toy musical instruments

In the past we have had successful puppeteers, sonnet poets, clothiers, cobblers, knights, weaponeers, bankers, farmers, and haberdashers.  There is an endless list of ideas and if your youth needs a personalized phone call, please let us as mentors know.  

Ideally, this project should challenge the student with 10-15 hours weekly to complete successfully.  This is what we are inspiring the student to reach for.  We are raising SCHOLARS with LEADERSHIP abilities and we are always wowed by them.

We are inviting our younger youth (Love of Learners) and our scholars to join us in dressing up, with booths and in crafting or creating carnival games for everyone to participate. We could have youth as archers, acting as jesters, minstrels, or by creating skill carnival games.   Please try to coordinate ideas so avoid duplication.
